FD3 remote won’t power on

I just unboxed a brand new FD3 for the first time. I’ve charged the battery for the drone and also have charged the remote. The remote will not power on, it shows a solid green light when on charger and beeps and shows a light when trying to power on during the short button press, but nothing ever happens during/after the long button press. How do I fix this?
